How it plays

• Everyone climbs the same mountain on one stiff leg line, and the line never stops turning. It turns about whichever end is planted, carrying your body round on its middle; a tap plants the free end wherever it has got to, and the turn carries on about that one.
• Boulders roll down the slope. The first one to catch you costs a life and leaves you where you stood; the second ends your run. The picture follows the leader and whoever drops off the bottom edge is out.

Rules

• How it runs. One climb, seventy-five seconds, everyone on the same slope. A tap is not a step of a fixed size: you get exactly the spot the free end had turned to, so catching it high is a climb and catching it low is not.
• Scoring. Your chip counts the metres you have climbed, and the best height you reached is what is scored, not where you finished. Two lives: the first boulder flattens you for a moment, the second takes you out.
• Winning. The picture climbs with whoever is highest and keeps creeping up on its own, so falling behind is as fatal as a rock. Last one still on the mountain wins; if the clock runs out first, the highest climber takes it.
